Abbot Chris Sorensen

Founding Pastor & Abbot

Chris Sorensen is the founding pastor of the Mission Chattanooga and the Mission Abbey, a network of parish churches under Chris’ leadership. Chris also serves as the Canon for Church Planting for the Anglican Diocese of the South. An avid singer/songwriter, Chris has served as lead singer and guitarist for national recording artist Evensong Rising. Chris has been married to Angie for more than twenty years and they have two sons, Elijah and Wilson.

Rev. Matt Busby

Senior Associate Pastor

Matt oversees many of the operations of the Mission Chattanooga, assisting the senior pastor and other ministry leaders. He serves as the liaison between our church and what God is doing in our city. His responsibilities include cultural engagement, exploring the threshold between faith & culture, and building coalitions in both the civic and ecumenical realms.  Matt enjoys fly fishing, reading, and hiking with his wife Amber and two young children, Theo and Annabelle.

Rev. Josh Baker

Associate Pastor

Josh Baker is a bi-vocational pastor at Mission Chattanooga serving as the lead pastor of our Saturday service. He was born in Chicago, Illinois as the youngest of five boys. He is a graduate of Lee University and has an M.A. in Old Testament Studies from Columbia Theological Seminary. His passions are in teaching, spiritual formation and community building. Josh enjoys running, biking, camping, fly fishing and spending time with his wife Stephanie and son Miles.

Rev. Katrina Payne

Pastor of Mercy Ministries

Katrina is passionate about equipping our church to love our neighbors both in the ways that we tangibly serve and the ways that we think and speak of our marginalized neighbors. Katrina has a background in social work and is a graduate of the Mission School of Ministry. She also serves as the assistant to the Canon for Church Planting for the Anglican Diocese of the South. She enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time outside with her husband, Johnny, and young sons Ezra and Amos.

Rev. Daniel Gamble

Pastor of Belonging

Daniel studied humanities and religion before attaining a MA from the Mission School of Ministry. With a background in humanitarian organizations, he is passionate about good thinking meeting faithful action. Daniel is excited to help people connect and belong here in our faith community in order to form disciples that go out and love our city.

Courtney Allen

Family Life Minister

Courtney Allen is our Family Life Minister. She received her bachelor’s degree at Lee University before completing seminary at the Mission School of Ministry. Courtney has worked in various youth and children’s ministries for more than a decade.  She is passionate about making liturgy and worship come alive for children in a powerful way. She is married to Connor Allen and has a sweet dog named Margot.

Rita Rubino

Program Director

Rita Rubino is originally from Greenwich CT. She joined the Mission Chattanooga in 2018 and was commissioned as a lay minister. She has a passion for spiritual formation and Lectio Divina and has studied at the Mission School of Ministry. With a background in catering and event planning, Rita serves as our Program Director as well as Private Events Manager. Rita is married to Dan, is the mother of Ryan, and is a certified yoga instructor.

Rev. Micah Macaulay

Pastor of Worship

Micah began leading worship in 1998, and has been involved in ministry and music ever since. She recieved an MA in Ministry at our parish-based seminary, the Mission School of Ministry. She’s been involved in Church planting, non-profit ministries, live recordings and worship events around the world. She has a passion for creating a sense of family and flourishing for those in her life; and is the proud wife to Matthew, and mom to Eliana.

Jake Gettys

Youth Minister

Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Jake has a bachelor’s degree in Theology and Ministry with a concentration in Youth Ministry from Lipscomb University. He is passionate about incorporating students into the active life of the local church and the spiritual formation of the next generation of Christ followers. His hope is that students might have an encounter with the Holy Spirit that leaves them forever changed and longing to live life on mission with Jesus.

Rev. Julie Crunk

Associate Pastor

Julie is a bi-vocational pastor at Mission Chattanooga, serving as a shepherd for our Saturday service. In 2011, she was ordained as an Anglican deacon and has served since 2015 as the Canon for Missions and Outreach with the Anglican Chaplaincy.  She is a graduate of the University of  Alabama and has a doctorate in Counseling from Mississippi State University.  Julie has a heart for people, to share the light of Christ and support them, whether in a parish or living in challenging and impoverished conditions.  Julie enjoys hiking, knitting, reading, cooking and canning and just being active outside.  She and her husband, Bill, have three children and four grandchildren.
